That is why my personal mission is to develop a variety of methods to get the word out about fresh ways to obtain local food, utilize alternative transportation, save energy, and conserve our natural habitats.
One of the newest ways to do that is to produce a TV show at Access Fort Wayne.
Many do not know this, but other than being the home of prior Mayor Harry Baals, and listed as the Dumbest City in the USA by Men's Health a few years ago, Fort Wayne is the home to a classic state-of '"the-art public cable access station. And, area residents are welcome to utilize this asset by meeting just a few simple requirements.
1) Call the Allen County Library and set up a producer's orientation meeting. This meeting will give the producer the tools needed to begin their journey towards creating a TV show. And, it can be about anything. Access Fort Wayne offers a disclaimer that the ideas reflected by these programs are not an expression of the station's viewpoint.
2) The producer is responsible for lining up the talent, studio camera and audio volunteers and setting up their studio time. Access Fort Wayne supplies the director, some stage setting, and all the equipment needed to tape the show.
3) Make sure to make reminder calls to volunteers and participants two-three days before your shooting session.
4) Write a storyboard of the show (an outline of how the show will be presented). For example, when we did the first Green ABC's for Kids Show- we focused on M for Mass Transit and had Betsy Kachmar, the assistant manager of Citilink (our city bus system) take questions from our five Green ABC's Kids. We made sure to have questions for the kids so they were comfortable with their jobs.
5) Shoot and smile!
6) Final editing takes place at Access Fort Wayne. A professional editor helps guide the newbie producer in the final editing process.
During these times of economic belt-tightening smart business people, grassroots activists, and individuals are looking for creative, cost effective, and entertaining ways to get the word out about their passions.
Access Fort Wayne, located at the Allen County Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana is the place to go for an enjoyable and exciting venue to get this job done!
