How to Promote Articles by Submitting RSS Feeds

Submitting RSS Feeds to Directories for Higher Page Views

Nina Rotz
A big part of being a freelance writer is promoting content, and getting web users to visit your published work. Online articles have a lot of competition, which is why it is so important to use new technology in order to promote articles and promote yourself as a professional freelancer. RSS Feed buttons are commonly seen icons on web pages, as well as article directories. However, not many freelance writers know that they can promote, garner higher page views and gain better exposure by submitting their RSS feeds to free directories.

Importance of RSS Feeds
Regularly updated content, such as blogs and articles, will go through websites that burn feeds. The feeds allow web users to read content, and get updates which can be read through Feed Readers. The newer cell phone and smartphone technology also allows consumers to browse feeds on the go, giving you a bigger audience even if they are not in front of a home computer.

Creating RSS Feeds for Article Libraries
How to Create an RSS Feed for Your Associated Content Articles on Feedburner, by Chelle, is an excellent tutorial that gives step by step instructions on how to create RSS feeds. This same tutorial can be used for other article publishing websites. The most important part is creating an RSS Feed through a free service such as www.feedburner.com

Free RSS Feed Submission
Promoting your published articles through RSS feed websites is easy, and completely free. Some websites offer a submission service for free, but there is no reason to pay for RSS Feed publication as so many websites offer this service free of charge. The only part you have to do is pasting the RSS Feed url into their free submission form.

Where to Submit RSS Feeds
When submitting your RSS feed to a free website, look for their Google Page Rank. The higher the page rank, the better results you will receive. The website you are submitting as an RSS Feed will also gain a higher Google Page Rank, by being linked from a valued url source.

Check Google Page Ranks for free at www.prchecker.info or by downloading the Google Toolbar. The Google Toolbar is free, and displays Page Ranks for every website you visit. Choose RSS Feed submission websites that are PR3 and above, with PR7 being your first choice for submission.

Some websites may require you to join for free, while others just allow the url to be submitted without any contact details provided. To join these websites it should be completely free, but always double check before agreeing to any terms and conditions.

High Google Page Rank RSS Feed Directories

http://www.blogdigger.com/add.jsp is a great place to start, as it has a Page Rank of 7.

http://www.blogpulse.com/submit.html also has a Page Rank of 7.

http://publisher.yahoo.com/rss_guide/submit.php has a Page Rank 6.

http://www.feedage.com is at a Page Rank 6.

Finding Free RSS Feed Directories
The best place to start would be Google.com, it can allow you to find free directories as well as websites that have done all the research, and provide free RSS Feed directories links.
