How to Properly Apply Mascara

Applying mascara to get the perfect long, thick luscious lashes just right can be difficult, but with a few basic techniques you can achieve those gorgeous lashes. All you have to do is follow some basic steps and remember real lashes will never look like the super models lashes on TV, but will still look beautiful, long, full and luscious.

Choosing the Proper Mascara

Now if you have had your mascara for over 3 months it is time to get rid of it. Old mascara can cause eye infections and make eyelashes look dry and clumpy. Then go to the cosmetic store and pick out fresh mascara that's fits you. If you have thin lashes look for mascaras that add volume and fullness to the lashes. If you have full lashes, but they are short pick up lengthening mascara. If your eyelashes are dry and brittle, a moisturizing and nourishing mascara might not be such a bad idea. If you're not sure what shades of mascara to get ask yourself what type of look you are going for. Are you going for a bold appearance or a soft natural appearance? If you want a bold appearance, black mascaras are excellent, but if you want a soft appearance blackish browns and browns are the way to go. If you are looking to be natural choose the mascara shade that is closest to your hair color. Also keep in mind if you are one who tends to cry a bit, or are athletic to get waterproof mascara so it doesn't run if the tears or sweat get the best of you.

Before Applying Mascara

Before you apply any mascara it is best to remove any old eye makeup you have on your eyelashes or eyelids because that will cause the mascara to clump up and not apply properly to the lashes. To always make sure mascara applies properly in the morning; always remove eye makeup from your eyelashes at nighttime with a nourishing eye makeup remover.

Applying Mascara

To apply mascara properly always start at the roots of the eyelashes and pull outward with the mascara brush to ensure all the eyelashes are coated in the mascara. Then apply a second coat of the mascara. Never apply 3 coats of mascara to the eyelashes because this will cause clumping and smudging. Next, take an eyelash comb and brush through the eyelashes in an upward motion so they slightly curl up a bit and look fuller and longer. Remember to take your time when applying mascara to get the best fullest longest lashes ever. If you rush your eyelashes will come out short, clumpy and nasty.

Well, now you know a few basic techniques you can use to apply your mascara properly for fuller, lengthier and more beautiful eyelashes. Just remember to replace that mascara every 3 months whether there is some still in the mascara tube or not because it will make eyelashes dried out and clumpy looking.
