How to Properly Clean Your iPod Touch and Remove Fingerprints

SDR2010
When I got my new iPod Touch I wanted to make an investment in a case that would keep my iPod looking clean so I ended up getting a Speck case that covered all areas of my iPod. The problem with the cover that they supplied was that the cover over the touch screen was not very thick at all. Instead it is a thin film that allows for you to use the iPod with your finger while keeping your fingerprint off the screen. While this performs well to keep your actual iPod player clean there is no way to keep fingerprints off of your iPod if you have been using it.

This meant this my iPod now has greasy finger swipes all over it and if I wanted the player to look as good as possible, then it needed to be clean. Since this is a high end electronic item which can easily be damaged we should be careful about cleaning it because water damage is not covered by Apple which means you will not be given a replacement under the warranty. However, after a lot of looking I have found some simple steps to cleaning your iPod player:

You will need a cloth, which is made of micro fiber or another soft material so that it does not leave any lint or smears on your iPod screen. You can buy this at a craft store if you would like but I purchased mine online here because it is inexpensive and can be reused after you wash it. This means that you will only need one cloth to maintain your iPod's new look.

Unpack the cloth and place it under your faucet in order to get the cloth soaked but you should make sure that you do not put an excessive amount of water on the cloth. If you have run too much water into the cloth you should wring it out into the sink so that the cloth has a damp feeling.

Turn your iPod off and make sure it is not plugged in because you do not want to cause damage to the player.

Wipe the face of your iPod Touch with the cloth; you should start at the top of the screen moving your hand down in a straight line repeating until you have wiped all of the fingerprints off of your screen. You can repeat this as needed and wash the cloth off to remove the grease once you have cleaned your iPod.
