How to Protect Your Bank Account

Rik Rodriguez
Certainly many of us have received false charges to our bank accounts. Malicious companies sometimes are unable to create a cash flow with out stealing or selling customers hard earned cash. No matter what we do to secure our money there will always be some security risks to transacting business in this day and age. Many of the account watching services are in effective in stopping criminals from accessing your account. I do not like to write checks to businesses, this seems like one of the easiest ways to get your money stolen.

For years I have had a separate account for doing business on line. Seemed like a good way to protect my money. Do not put to much money in it and have a way to transfer money into it easily. Why would you go to the store and use the account that you have thousands of dollars in to purchase you groceries or gasoline. It makes sense to have a separate account for on line transactions that doesn't have thousands of dollars in it also. Credit card numbers and private information is being stole at an alarming rate since the advent of the internet. Some hackers are selling your private information. Some are charging cards a very minimal amount per month and its very hard and time consuming to track down and stop a charge to your card.

Try to use cash in your everyday transactions, limit the number of business that have your credit card and bank account numbers. It makes sense to protect your accounts and create an account with a controlled amount of cash in it. It will save you a lot of headaches in the long run. Try to use common sense when buying anything that you have to write a check. It has always amazed me that our account numbers are on every check we write, along with our name, addresses and phone numbers. Certainly giving out your checking account information to businesses that you have never done business with could be disastrous.

Never give your log-in and access numbers to your bank account to anyone. Stay away from accessing your bank account on public computers at internet cafes and even at your friends house. Password protect your home computer and do not save your passwords on your computers. Write then down in a secure place and be creative with them. Do not use passwords that people can figure out easily. For example never use passwords related to your hobbies, profession or children. It just makes it more difficult for someone to steal from you. If you pay attention to these few pointers you will save your self many of issues in the future. These suggestions come from ten years of transacting business on line and traveling throughout out the USA.
