Materials:
3 pumpkins in descending sizes, large, medium, and small
1 smaller pie pumpkin for hat
Steel rebar rod
Dried corn leaves
Large, red, hot-type pepper or other decoration for the nose
Drill with large bit
Lights: two candles, battery push lights, or light strand
Sharp knife
First, figure out where your pumpkin man is going to stand. I laid my pumpkins on their sides because they were more stable that way. If you wish to stand them upright, cut the stem and slice off the top of the largest pumpkin. Push the rebar down through the large pumpkin, anchoring it to the ground.
Next, remove the stem and cut a slice off the top of the middle pumpkin. Cut a hole in the back of the gourd to remove seeds and pulp. Position the middle pumpkin over the steel rebar and thread onto top of big pumpkin. Drill two or three button holes through the front with a large drill bit.
Carve a hole in the back of the last pumpkin and remove pulp and seeds. Remove a round piece from the top for the pie-pumpkin 'hat'. Carve a scary or fun face with a hole to push the pepper nose through. Thread the third pumpkin onto the steel rebar. Glue or pin dried corn leaves around the top hole for hair and add pie-pumpkin hat.
Finally, add lights. The holes at the back of the pumpkin man's head and body should allow for easy access. You may use candles but I prefer non-flammable lights because small children are drawn to my pumpkin man decoration and I don't want any costumes to accidently catch fire.
There you have it, one creative and easy to make pumpkin man decoration that is sure to be the hit of your neighborhood.

This is soooo clever and cute. I don't have the drill or the rebar, but I would love doing this. I bet little kids just love it! My favorite Halloween idea of the year! Last year it was the vomiting pumpkins made with all the guts hanging out of the mouths.
This is adorable! So fun!
Excellent work; thanks for sharing ♥ - This is so cute - I will remember next year..
Well, this is a great idea! Thanks.
Wow! What a great idea. Unfortunately, in my neighborhood, a pumpkin man would most likely be shot.
How cute!
Beautifully written! Thank you for sharing!
I love the "sharp knife" - I don't know why but that cracked me up. Super job on this.
The pumpkin man is adorable. Thanks for sharing this. :-)
