How to Make a Purple Joker Jacket for Halloween Simply by Using RIT
An Easy and Quick Way to Get the Perfect Joker Jacket
Once you find that White jacket now you are ready to dye it Purple like the Joker in the Dark Knight. So now you're thinking what do I use to make this Jacket Purple or as close as the color of the Jokers? Simple, you can use a product called RIT. This product has been out for many years now and has succeeded very well. RIT works on so many different fabrics such as cotton, silk, wool, ramie, rayon, and many more, but on fiber blends it can be very difficult to dye. If it is used on fiber blends you may have to dye it twice, especially for a dark color like Purple. Now here is your instructions how to dye your White jacket Purple.
Make sure the jacket of choice is free of all stains before you dye it
You will need at least 2 packs of RIT powder or you can even use one bottle of RIT liquid, which is actually equivalent to the two boxes
Take your RIT and place it into at least 3-4 gallons of water in the bathtub
For better results I like to add 1/14 cups of salt to the mixture. This way the Purple will come out more vivid to look like the Jokers jacket
Now allow the jacket to stay in the dye bath for at least an hour. To be more drastic make the time 1 1/2 hours, but PLEASE make sure you keep stirring the jacket around in the dye bath. Also make sure you use very warm water for the dye bath. Don't allow it to get cold.
Remove the jacket carefully from the dye bath. I would suggest placing some gloves on so you don't get it all over your hands. Then rinse the jacket in warm water until the water runs clear. Now place the jacket into a cool rinse do the same thing. Cold water will lock the color in better on the material.
Before you wear this jacket please wash the jacket in cold water with mild laundry detergent. Hang dry and now you have the perfect Purple Joker jacket all set and ready to trick and treat on Halloween.

Post a CommentTo make a cheap jacket I used a white lab coat and dyed it purple, £8.99 for the jacket bargin over the net, and a few quid shipping. For the hair which I have very short hair, by a cheap halloween wig (black/dark brown)£4 from ASDA. wash it so the hair gets all mangled and knotted. put some gel in it or pric stick glue to get strands and then spray with £2 bottle of green hair spray. have fun :)
Hey thats a great idea...actually gonna go buy some joker looking clothes and dye them in purple haha..got a halloween party to go to this week :D
you can git the powder form at walmart or the bottle form at jewel. i attempted to dye a jacket and a vest but both were dark colors to begin with so it didn't turn out well. i am going to attempt today to dye a white pair of pants and see how that works. i ended up getting a jacket for free. all you need to do is go to hot topic and if you are lucky, they will have both a jacket and a shirt. the jackets are 60 bucks, but if you buy 2 of them keep one and sell the other on ebay you will in a way end up getting paid to own that jacket. i sold 2 shirts that cost 35 bucks for 90 and i sold a jacket for a little over 150, so i ended up getting the jacket and shirt for free.
Where to u get RIT at???
This doesnt stain the bath tub at all?>
I did this a while ago with a white suit jacket from a thrift store, and white pants from a discount store. It works fantastically, and you will be so satisfied with the outcome. Make sure you use AT LEAST two boxes of dye, because my color didn't come out dark enough cause i only used one, so i'll have to do it again.

ya ya everyone knows about that idea so what the $%^&
great idea %^&*er
I actually did this a few weekends ago. My mom had a long cream trench coat, I soaked it in RIT dye (about 3 boxes) over night and it has come out nearly the color of the Joker's jacket in the film. I think I may dye it again, possibly get it a bit deeper purple.
