How to Put Your Face on Fast

Amanda Furbeck
Time is precious. It seems to me that those first few early morning minutes before the kids are awake fly the fastest. Getting ready in a flash is of prime importance to busy moms. There isn't much time to spare before the rest of the household is up and about. But you can get yourself up and at 'em in a hurry each morning with these simple, fast make up ideas.

Be organized. Nothing wastes precious time in the morning like hunting for that eyeliner you wear every day. Find a system that works for you to keep all your makeup and makeup accessories neat and organized, so you can find everything you need in a flash. Keep things you wear every day in one place, and things you wear only on special occasions set aside somewhere else. It will reduce the clutter that you have to dig through to get ready.

Use products that do double duty. Use a tinted moisturizer instead of moisturizer and foundation. Or use a face primer that also reduces shine. My favorite is foundation that controls acne.

Skip steps you don't need. If you don't need primer, skip it! If you don't need to conceal anything, don't. Use a skin care system that relies on a lot of nighttime products so you don't have to go through a big series of products first thing in the morning.

Create a no-fail look. Practice your 'signature' look. It's a go-to look that you can put on quickly and easily, without thinking about it too much. Keep the products all together so you can throw on the look in a hurry. Use neutral colors so that it will match everything in your closet.

Try this five minute look. Quickly apply your favorite foundation. Powder seems to be the fastest. Use a cream eye shadow in a soft taupe, and apply it to your eyelid with just your fingertips. Then, use a soft, sable eyeliner to line the upper lids. If your hand is unsteady, you can smudge it a bit with a Q-tip for a bit of a sultry look. Apply a coat or two of volumizing mascara. Use a quick swirl of a soft bronzer to get a little bit of glow, but keep it close to your skin tone so you don't have to spend a lot of time blending it in. Top off your look with your favorite color of lip gloss. You can apply powder if needed. You should be able to apply this entire look within five minutes if everything is handy. For a fancier look, just add a second cream eye shadow. Better yet, skip the shadow and liner. Instead, line your eyes with a fat, brightly colored eye liner crayon and smudge for a bright, fun look.

Once you figure out what products are most important to you, you'll be able to streamline your makeup routine. Keep your daily products handy and organized for the quickest, easiest application. You'll be up and at 'em in no time at all.
