Firezilla is a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client that allows you to put files on a server. In plain English, this means that you can put a file up on your website so that other people can either view it or download it.
This software is free and with a windows folder style interface, is fairly easy to use. To download it, simply go to http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ and go to the download tab. Make sure you get the .exe file.
Choose a folder for the file to download into. Then when it is fully downloaded, you'll need to run the file. Go through the set-up wizard and then click install.
Once installed, you'll be able to use Filezilla to copy files from your computer to your website. To do this, create a manager account, using the ftp details your webhost should have sent you.
The ftp details include your website address without the http://www. prefix, your user name, your password, and port number. Usually your port number is 21. If you don't have this information, you can ask your webmaster or your website host for it.
Connect to the internet and your site. You should be able to see the folders and files inside of your computer ("local site") and inside your website ("remote site"). You can copy files into your website by copying or dragging the files from your computer side to the appropriate folder in the website.
If, for example, you have a document that you post under the public_html folder, it will show up if you type in a browser such as IE or Firefox www.YourSite.com/YourDocument.doc. A folder inside the public_html folder would make your document on the website's URL be: www.YourSite.com/folder/YourDocument.doc.
Filezilla is an easy to use FTP client, and best of all, it's absolutely free. If you just need an FTP client to perform the basic function of getting your file up on the internet, this is probably a good software for you to use.
