How to Put Lights on a Christmas Tree

While it doesn't seem like it would be that big of a challenge to put lights on a Christmas tree, this is actually something that a lot of people struggle with every year. These people spend hours adjusting and readjusting their Christmas tree lights. With this in mind, here is some help for the next time that you string lights on a Christmas tree.

Take Out Your Lights

Once you have your tree set up, it is time to take out all of your Christmas tree lights and lay them on your floor to make sure that they are not tangled, that no wires are worn or split and that all of the bulbs work. Now you are ready to learn how to put lights on a Christmas tree.

Wrap the Lights around Your Arm

You will want to unplug the Christmas tree lights and wrap the cord around your arm. In order to do this you will want to hold the last light in your left palm and wrap the cord around your left elbow until you have all of the cord wrapped up. If you are left-handed, make sure to wrap the Christmas tree lights around your right arm instead.

Stand On a Chair

Now you are going to want to stand on a chair and attach the socket end of your cord to the top of your Christmas tree.

Walk Around Your Tree

Walk around your Christmas tree, barely tucking the cord into the branches as you slowly work your way down to the bottom of your tree. You will want to make sure that you have enough cord to be able to plug your Christmas tree lights into the electrical socket that you have chosen to use.

Take a Look at Your Tree

Make sure that your rows are even and that your whole tree is lit. Now is the time to make any adjustments that you feel will make your tree look better. This may mean that you will need to climb back onto your chair to repeat the spiral pattern, attach the cord to the branches and tuck the cord in so that it is hidden as much as possible.

Conclusion

Remember, a bunch of Christmas tree lights just strung on your bare tree is not going to look all that great. It will take your actually decorating the Christmas tree with the rest of your decorations for it to actually look fantastic.
