Putting a link to an outside website in NVU is really simple. It is almost the same as creating an inside link to your own website. This tutorial will show you how to put a link to an outside website in NVU. You will need to open the page with the text that you want to link or you can create a new page in NVU to use with this tutorial.
Linking Text to an Outside Website in NVU
Let's start off by linking text to an outside website. Highlight the text that you want to link. If you are using a blank document, type the text and highlight it. Go to the top of your window and click Insert > Link or press CTRL L on your keyboard. If you have the icons at the top of your window, you can click the link icon. Either way will open the link box.
In this link box, you will need to type in the url for the website that you want to link too. It should begin with http:// and the rest of the url. Then click OK on the box. To edit the link, right click on the link and click Link Properties. That will open the box back up and you can edit it.
Linking a Button to an Outside Website in NVU
Next, I will show you how to link a button to an outside website. First, you will need to insert the button that you want to use. Go to the top of NVU and click Insert > Image. When the image box opens, click the Location tab. Then click the Choose File button and locate the button on your computer that you want to use. Open the button by clicking the button and clicking Open. If you do not want to enter Alternate Text for the button, you will need to tick the Do Not Use field. If you want to use alternate text, go ahead and type your text in the field.
Now click the Link tab in the box. Enter the url for the website in the first field. Then click the OK button to create the new button. To edit the button and the button link, right click on the button and click Image Properties in the drop down menu. You will see the same link box as before. You can do your editing and then click the OK button to save your changes.
