Make a Gift Basket at Home This Holiday Season

CB
Irrespective of the occasion, a chocolate gift basket is an ideal gift choice. If you are running out of gift ideas this holiday season, or have forgotten to pick up a gift for your loved one, why not make a chocolate gift basket at home? It is an easy, inexpensive project, that saves money too! All the things you need for this Do-It-Yourself project are available in a super market or a dollar store. So let's get started!!

1) You can buy the basket at any dollar store for less than $5. Select the size of the basket, according to the number of items you would be placing in it. You can pick up a pretty looking basket at a flea market or a garage sale too. Just give it a fresh coat of paint, and the basket looks new.

2) Next comes the chocolates and other items that go with the chocolate theme. Since you are making a chocolate gift basket, anything at all that goes with the chocolate theme will do. So here are a few ideas. Pick up a few expensive chocolates. Then go to any super market, and pick up large packs of assorted chocolates. This way, you can make several chocolate gift baskets at a low cost. Pick up some chocolate-chip cookies. If you can get your hands on some nice chocolate scented candles, that would be fabulous! Anything chocolaty will fit perfectly in your chocolate gift basket.

3) Place a nice looking gift wrapping paper at the bottom of the basket. Arrange all the gifts in the basket with care. Place the larger items and boxes along the border of the basket and in the center. You can then place the smaller items in between the larger ones.

4) Next comes the cellophane paper, which will give a decorative look to your chocolate gift basket. You could choose a holiday theme/ birthday theme cellophane, as per the occasion. Else, keep cellophane with small silver prints on it, handy. They can be used for any occasion. Cut a sufficiently big piece of cellophane paper and lay it on a table. Place the gift filled basket at the center of the cellophane paper. Now gather the edges of the paper and pull towards the top. Tie with a ready-made bow or a satin ribbon. If there is too much cellophane paper coming out, trim the edges a bit to get a flower like effect.

5) Finally, attach a gift tag and there you have it! Your very own, inexpensive homemade chocolate gift basket.

Now wasn't that a simple DIY or Do-It-Yourself project? Now that you know how to make a chocolate gift basket, when do I get one?

Glad I saw your article. I've been planning to send appreciation gifts to some clients and businesses, and chocolate baskets are the perfect solution. And, they are very expensive to buy ~ so I will make them! ~Jennifer
