How to Get Quick Energy

Ways to Get Quick Energy Whether You're at the Office or Not!

Lyn Vaccaro
Quick ways to get energy interest all of us at one time or another don't they? We run around looking for quick pick me ups to get us over our energy slumps and on to the rest of our day. I'm guilty of this method myself, and as a coffee drinker have relied on that mode of acquiring quick energy much too often. There are more healthy ways to get quick energy though and I've listed a few of them in the following paragraphs. These are suggestions I've learned from my X husband Jim Dembowiak CN Certified Nutritionist) and made for those I've nutritionally consulted with as well as customers from my health food store with good results.

Move it

Create your own energy supply from the inside out. Rather than relying on outside sources like coffee and other energy drinks. try moving your body in some small way. During your break, try taking a walk, or perhaps maybe a quick run would be appropriate if you've brought your running shoes along. Movement generates energy, all without sugar or other stimulants, making it an option you should take seriously. I've read about studies that have shown only 10 minutes or so of brisk walking can sustain energy for up to 2 hours. This is in part a result of some great brainwork involving the infusion of neurotransmitters that spawn mental alertness from more activity. Mental alertness will create more energy according to some of my peers like my X husband Jim Dembowiak, CN in the alternative health realm.

Food Combining

The old standby, eating something for quick energy, still is a strong contender in this battle for daytime energy. Denying the power of food is rather futile when it comes to the energy it supplies us with. Proper food combining is imperative for the type of energy we need supplied to us. The quality of our energy depends on the quality of the food we eat to obtain that energy. Eating a quality protein from possibly something like nuts or eggs, combined with a quality whole grain carb and good fat is the perfect way to gain lasting energy in the long term.

Stand up for Yourself

Those with desk jobs are at a disadvantage at the office when it comes to the active enzyme action that burns fat. The less activity you do, the less energy your body will call for to keep it's functions up and running well. Over my years as an alternative health advocate, I've read the stats promoting some type of movement to counteract this process. Take a minute or two every 30 minutes during the day to stand up and do a stretch or two. As a result of doing that, you'll prevent your metabolism from taking a 50 percent dive over an entire day of inactivity, helping you to burn fat and stay mentally alert.
