How Quick Are You on Myspace?

Zach
There's a cool Myspace app called Speed Racing where you can customize a car and race your friends. Haven't you always wanted to do that? Well, let's take a look closer and see how it is done.

If you've got MySpace open and are logged in go here or just click the link and login: http://www.myspace.com/speed_racing. They have a nice picture there of some interesting looking characters. If you are ready to get started click add this app and then add again.

After that's done you get the privilege of choosing a car to race but you need a certain amount of points before you can pick the fastest car so you will have to race a couple that aren't top notch for now. You can either buy cars or trade in a car you bought to get a more expensive one. You start off with 20,000 points and you only have two initial choices: a Chevy Aveo or a Honda Civic. Yes, the cars even have real names.

In your summary you get an overall perspective of your car and racing history. Under the trade in car button you can trade your current car in towards the purchase of another. If you do want a less expensive car instead you can still trade in and you will keep the difference in points.

You can also upgrade the car you have purchased. There are two categories which are tire upgrades and kit upgrades which include nitrous, exhaust upgrades etc. You can also see your friends' cars and how you rank up against them if you click the "my friend's cars" link. Under "smacktalk", appropriately named, you can send random generated comments to antagonize your friends into racing or create your own. There is also a button to earn points where you can do some things to build up some quick points.

Under race my car the action happens. You must choose a friend to race before you can start your engine. There are a few rules like only 3 races a day with the same person and a total of 15 races a day.

What do you get when you win? You get 500 points plus 250 points if you have less horsepower then your opponent and win. If you lose your friend that you raced will get points and also a little more if he had less horse power in the race.

So now that you know a little more about this Myspace app get out there and start your engines!

Interesting, but for some reason I didn't start with any points. 2 weeks now and I still don't have a car.
