Microwaves can get very messy. Food particles and splashed drops inside the microwave may appear nothing less than a garbage, if you leave them unclean for a long period of time. Many individuals use sprays on cleansers and bleach to scrub their microwave. These chemicals can eliminate the remains, but they are not very healthy to be used on your microwave. This method can also be very time consuming, and may involve heavy scrubbing. Luckily, there is a quick and easy way to clean your microwave using items you may probably have in your home.

Below are the steps on how to clean your microwave very quickly using minimum efforts.

Step 1

First and foremost, you will first take a damp cloth or paper towel, and wipe out all food crumbs and loose particles from the microwave.

Step 2

Next, using a microwave safe glass bowl and fill it with two cups of water. You may want to add some fresh slices of lemon in the water to achieve a fresh, lemony smell. Once this mixture is prepared, place the bowl in the microwave.

Step 3

Start the microwave on high power. You need to bring the water to a rolling boil. The time your microwave takes to bring the water to a boil varies according to the power, and age of your microwave. When the water is boiling turn the microwave off, but do not remove the bowl from the microwave.

Step 4

Let the bowl sit in the microwave for several minutes. This will allow the steam to fill the microwave, and loosen dried and baked on food particles.

Step 5

Remove the water filled bowl from the microwave. You should use pot holders or gloves because the bowl will be very hot. Get a new damp cloth or paper towel and wipe down the entire interior of the microwave. Since the steam has penetrated within the food particles they will easily wipe off.

Step 6

Remove the turntable microwave tray and wash it with soap and water. Most microwave trays are dishwasher safe if you prefer to run it through a dishwasher cycle. Once the tray is clean, place it back inside your sparkling clean microwave.

Following these easy steps will help you clean your microwave quickly and effectively. You may find that cleaning the microwave in this fashion is something you can easily do once or twice a month.
