How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes Quick, Easy & Free!
Follow the Tips Given in This Method to Quit for Good!
At the time I finally used this method to quit I was young, still going to the bars, most all my friends were smoking and we were allowed to smoke where I worked. I had almost every card in the deck stacked against me to find an excuse for not to succeed. I had tried countless times to quit using other people's tips to no avail. I stumbled on this idea by sheer accident and it worked despite all the cards being against me at the time.
One day when working I went to the back room to light up a cigarette when we suddenly got very busy. I had to cut my smoke break short but I had just lit up. I did not want to extinguish my cigarette and waste it so I gently put it out without crushing it and put it aside on the ashtray for later. After the rush subsided I went back to finish my cigarette and lit it up again. The normal "ahhhh" feeling I used to get with that first puff for my nicotine fit was diminished due to the bad, ashy taste of a relit cigarette. I took a few puffs and then put it out and discarded it due to its bad taste but found my nicotine fit was gone so I did not light another and just went back to work.
I thought to myself that if just a few puffs would get me over the hump for my nicotine fit and I could make cigarettes distasteful at the same time that I might be on to a way to finally quit. I was unsure of the science of it but just using common sense I decided that it should be easier to quit something with just a few puffs than to quit something with a lot of puffs and as quickly as it worked for me I was right.
That night I came up with a system to quit smoking once and for all. It contained a bit of sacrifice but it was worth it. This is exactly the system I used for one full week, the end of which I lit my last cigarette for life!
I would not smoke when driving - period. I made a pact with myself that if I absolutely had to smoke when driving somewhere that I would make myself stop at a rest stop or parking lot, get out of the car and light up. This alone kept me almost completely from smoking during my drive times. I chewed a hell of a lot of bubble gum when driving for a bit but I pulled it off.
I would not go to a bar again until I was sure I had quit. I knew it was impossible for me to go drinking with all my smoking friends at a bar and not light up so I made a pact with myself that I would just avoid that situation until I was done. Since it was only for a week and I had to work a lot it really was not that hard to do.
Any other time I found I just had to light up, be it at home, at work, anything I made a pact with myself that I would take no more than three puffs before gently putting out the cigarette and saving it. I knew from reading that the physical addiction to nicotine needs very little of that chemical to end the fit. Most of the smoking addiction is truly in your mind. Those few puffs provided enough nicotine to take the edge off. I would keep the extinguished cigarette and go as long as I could before I felt I had to smoke again, and then would light that same cigarette. I can tell you right now, after extinguishing and lighting a cigarette multiple times it tastes like shit. You get to the point that you do not even want to do it even though you have the physical urge and that is exactly the point of this system.
Just those changes alone the first day cut back smoking over a pack a day to smoking less than one pack that first day without feeling any real withdrawals. I was getting the nicotine I needed for the fits but was also making myself go as long as I could among those fits. I found I was not just smoking to be smoking even when I really did not feel the need. It made a drastic difference right away.
As the days went on, I found myself smoking less and less because I truly did not want to smoke that nasty ashtray tasting thing after it had been put out and relit several times. It took me about a full week to just go an entire day without smoking at all but after that one day, it turned into two days and that is when I had it kicked physically. Due to the changes I had made in my smoking habits I did not feel awkward driving without a cigarette anymore, I did not look forward to the taste; I had a cigarette in my hand less and less so the pure habit of it was waning. All that topped by the fact that I had gone over 48 hours without a single puff was all it took. Most anything I have read about the possible physical nicotine addiction states that it is gone within about 48 hours.
I have never looked back, and have gone over 15 years without smoking. I cannot guarantee it will work for you as well as it did for me but I truly believe this will work if you can provide the self-discipline needed to get through it. Good Luck!
