To begin using RapidShare.com you must first create an account. However, this may be a bit confusing. On the Rapidshare.com home page rapidshare.com/index.html you will see a grey box with a browse link. By clicking on the browse link you will have a box appear with your computer files. Choose one and then hit the upload button. Once your upload is complete you will receive a message that your file has been saved. This message will also explain that the particular file you have uploaded can be downloaded 10 times. If you want more than 10 downloads you are instructed to create a free or premium account.
The link you need to create an account appears on this same first upload page. You will need to click on the link that says, " Create a free collectors account". The only information you need to enter is the user name of your choice, your e-mail address and the password of your choice. Once you submit this information you will be taken to the log in page for your free account.
Once logged in you are taken to a overview page for your account. The first suggested step here is to make your account secure. With this activation you are able to protect your files, your email address and password, and any RapidPoints you earn against unauthorized access. You will be sent an unlock code. Keep this in a safe place.
From your account page you can now upload single files or use the bulk upload for multiple files. The maximum file size is 200 Meg on a free account but you can split your archives. Once files are uploaded you will see a link next to them, copy and paste this link to send the information in an e-mail to whomever you wish to have download your file. You may also use the e-mail form on RapidShare.com
In addition to single files you may create a "link list" which will allow you to share multiple files under one URL link. You can also upload files to your collection from other servers by using RapidShare's remote upload service. This can be found at: ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/collectorszone.cgi
Remember that with a free account files that have not been downloaded are subject to deletion after 90 days. When files are downloaded you will earn RapidShare points and these points can be converted into a paid premium account or saved towards gifts available on the site.
For more information about paid premium accounts go to: rapidshare.com/premium.html
