How to Get Rare or Specific Trees Out of Farmville Orchards

With the addition of the orchard feature in Farmville, virtual farmers everywhere can now produce seedlings when the orchard is harvested. Harvesting your orchard in Farmville is easy; just click on the orchard when the "ready" indicator is activated. When you harvest the orchard, you earn mastery points and have the chance to get a seedling. This seedling can grow up to be a rare tree, if you're lucky. So how do you get specific trees out of your Farmville orchard? It's easy!

Why would you want to get specific trees?
It all depends on how you play the game. If you're playing for mastery, you might want some of the expensive Farm Cash trees out of your orchard. Or, if you're playing for decorative purposes, you might want an entire area filled with bubblegum trees. Instead of spending farm cash on a bunch of bubblegum trees, try to get them out of your orchard.

Study what each tree turns into:

Look at the tree mastery guide within the game to see what trees produce what seedlings. For example, the Orange Tree turns into a Blood Orange tree. Find out what tree you want to produce before rearranging your orchards.

Remove all non-essential trees from your orchard.

Using the Orange tree example again, let's say you want a Blood Orange tree. Remove all trees that aren't the Orange tree from the orchard. Place ONLY Orange trees in the orchard. Even if you only have one, that's fine! You could still produce a seedling. But the more trees you have in the orchard, the better chance at a seedling. Just don't put any other tree other than the orange tree into the orchard. Placing even ONE tree of a different species can ruin your chances of getting a seedling that grows up into a Blood Orange tree.

Wait for a harvest.

The orchards take a few days to harvest.

Harvest the orchard and pray for a seedling!

Getting a seedling is random, although it does help to have 20 of 20 trees in your orchard. However, having a full orchard does not guarantee you'll get a seedling every time.

If you got a seedling, great! Place it on your farm and water it. It should grow up into the tree you wanted.

Have a lot of seedlings in your gift box?

If you're like me, you can't keep up with all the seedlings that are in your gift box. As of right now, I have 82 seedlings sitting in there. So if I try to grow a specific tree, it'll go to the end of the line. In other words, I'll have to wait until I've watered 82 trees before I get to this specific tree. It sucks, yes, but there's no way around it. Just think, you'll have something to look forward to!

One more thing -- there's no way around NOT spending Farm Cash on trees, if you want to master certain trees, especially limited edition trees. Sure, you can stalk the Facebook feed, but it's going to take you a while to get all the trees you want. Sometimes it's just easier to spend $5 Farm Cash on a limited edition tree. Don't buy the more expensive trees (like the $25+ trees) as they can be acquired via orchards if you buy the cheaper tree.
