How to Make a Really Good Black Bean Dip

Black beans have been a staple in the Latin America diet for thousands of years. Black beans, a variety of Kidney bean is rich in protein and has a mild sweet creamy earthy flavor after being cooked. Evidence of black beans have been found in prehistoric archaeological sites that date back over 7000 years of age.

Making a really good black bean dip at home is a simple and easy task. It will be very easy for you to create your own family tradition from the basic example listed below.

Ingredients:

1 cup of dry black beans. Always focus on the food and not the brand name. No name black beans are of as high a quality as a brand name is. Brand names add cost to the price and take away from what is really important, the food. Never pay for a name when you can be paying for more food when making a really good black bean dip.

1 clove of fresh garlic. Fresh garlic is absolutely essential when making a really good black bean dip. Its more nutritious than garlic powder as well.

1 medium ripe tomato.

1 medium onion.

1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper.

1 tablespoon of hot sauce.

1 teaspoon of chili powder

1 very small green pepper for garnish sprinkles.

Directions:

Soak your black beans in water overnight before cooking. Cook your black beans for 1 hour and 20 minutes, drain most of the water off and add your diced garlic, chopped tomato, cayenne pepper, hot sauce, and chili powder. Mix thoroughly and allow to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes so the flavors of your really good bean dip meld together.

Scoop the black bean mixture into a bowl and garnish with slivers of green pepper to serve as a hot dip, or allow to chill covered in the refrigerator until serving time. Serve in a bowl on an ice chip nest to keep dip cool.

Really good black bean dip is best served with thick crusty bread or veggies like carrots, or corn chips. It makes a excellent party dip or luncheon appetizer.
