Jalapenos and cheddar cheese go together like mom's apple pie and ice cream. Both ingredients are widely used in many recipes and they make an excellent hot or cold dip. In this article I am going to share a recipe for a really good hot jalapeno and cheddar dip. This also can be called fondue if you like but fondue is a ethnic food and has particular customs that apply to it so I call this a dip.

Making a really good jalapeno and cheddar dip at home is a simple and easy task. It will be very easy for you to create your own family tradition from the basic example listed below.

Ingredients:

8 ounces of fresh jalapeno peppers. Avoid the canned jalapeno peppers. They usually have way to much salt in them to be a good choice for a really good jalapeno and cheddar dip. Try and get a no name brand as they are the same quality as any brand name will be. Never pay for a name when you can be paying for more food when making a really good jalapeno and cheddar dip.

1 / 3 cup of sour cream Again I always use a store brand or no name brand to save money when making a really good jalapeno and cheddar dip.

2 cups of shredded smoked cheddar cheese.

1 tablespoon of prepared horseradish

1 large clove of fresh garlic

Directions:

Cut your jalapenos and de-seed them for a mildly seasoned dip. If you really want some intense heat then add some of the seeds to your dip while cooking. Chop your jalapeno peppers and garlic finely. Place the smoked cheddar cheese in a double boiler and cook until the cheese is completely melted. Add your jalapenos, sour cream, garlic and horseradish and stir for your really good jalapeno and cheddar dip. Cook on low heat until the peppers have begun to soften, stirring regularly. Pour out into a heated bowl and serve immediately.

Really good jalapeno and cheddar dip is best served with toasted bread chunk, bread sticks, or veggie strips while piping hot. It makes a excellent party dip or luncheon appetizer. Try a scoop of really good jalapeno and cheddar dip on your next baked potato for an amazing taste treat. It also makes a great topping for broccoli.
