How to Recognize a Spiritual Dream

FlutterBy
Dreams happen all the time but sometimes we have one that leaves us feeling like it was almost real. It seems as if that dream had an effect on you unlike the other dreams you've had recently. Being able to determine what a "normal" dream and what a spiritual dream is can be a useful tool. God (or whoever you believe in) communicates with us when it's the easiest. When we sleep our minds are quite and totally receptive to divine or spiritual messages. It is the one time each day (unless you meditate) that God has a chance to actually get a word in because the rest of the time we are worried and constantly thinking about everyday things, such as when the next bill will get paid.

Even if you don't think you've had a spiritual or important dream write it down anyway. Keep a journal by your bed and everyday as soon as you wake up write down all that you can remember. It will only take a few minutes but is a priceless tool in figuring out your dreams.

Dreams that produce strong emotional feelings could be considered spiritual. Its really all about how you interpret your own dream. If it produced a dramatic emotional feeling of joy, love, sadness, fear (or any strong emotion) then pay special attention to it. Whatever stands out the most in your dream will be the key to figuring out the message.

Spiritual dreams can also seem very real to you. You might visit a place or do something in your dream that seems as if its really happening or perhaps you remember it somehow even though its never happened. The dream will seem real to you and you might be a little confused when you wake up. A lucid dream is when you can control what happens in your dream.

Some dreams are hard to forget. You might be thinking about them all day and trying to figure out what it meant. However, if images from the dream keep randomly popping into your head (without you wanting them to) then it could be a spiritual message.

Sometimes spiritual dreams can happen more than once just to make sure we get the message. They can last two or more nights in a row. This is not common so if it happens then pay special attention to that dream. Some dreams might also happen weeks apart but if it's the same dream then it means something and you need to figure it out.

Dreams that give you information or allow you to somehow learn something (such as an event happening or the truth about something someone said to you) occur during times of spiritual advancement or as messages. Gaining knowledge from the divine or spirit world happens through sleep and/or meditation.

Some people might experience a bright light or a sense of a higher presence. If you get the sensation you're being drawn to that light then you can almost be sure that it is a spiritual dream. The light might seem overwhelming and you might even be afraid to go towards it. If you have a dream like this consider yourself lucky and know that it means you've had a genuine experience.

Some spiritual dreams awaken senses that are normally closed off to us in the dream world. You might be able to taste, feel or smell. You can eat food, feel someone's touch or the wind and even smell flowers. An experience like that will most likely make you feel as if something special occurred in that dream.
