There are literally thousands of sites on the Internet where it's possible to stream media. Most radio stations have the option to listen online and many music sites like Grooveshark.com have options to listen in a similar format.

Getting Started

Step 1

Open your browser and find a site with streaming music. Search for your favorite radio station to find their broadcast stream or a music streaming site like Playlist.com or Pandora.com.

Step 2

Ensure that your computer audio hardware is working properly. While streaming audio, you will hear the sound through your speakers or headphones if everything is in fine working order.

Step 3

Download streaming audio recording software and install it. Wondershare.net has a user-friendly software with a simple interface at reasonable prices.

Recording Audio

Step 1

Open your streaming audio recording software. The software will indicate when it is picking up the audio streaming through your browser.

Step 2

Use the software settings to designate a format for recording. MP3 is the standard format.

Step 3

Select a folder in which to store the recorded audio.

Step 4

Left-click the "Record" button on your streaming audio recorder software.

Step 5

Left-click the "Stop" button when you are done recording.

Step 6

Rename your audio files to indicated the name of the song or contents of the file.

Step 7

Enjoy your recordings on your computer or load them on a portable audio device.
