Throughout the years, I have given just about every direct sales company in the world a try, having been a representative for Mary Kay, Creative Memories, Avon, 1-800-PARTYSHOP, and Big Yellow Box by Crayola. Out of all the companies I've given a try, I have been most successful with Avon, as it seems they sell products that people need on a regular basis and at a price that competes with most drug stores and grocery stores. I've made a good deal of money just selling Avon products, but recently I've begun recruiting other Avon representatives into my downline, and that is where the money really is. Basically, when you are an Avon representative and you recruit a new person to sell Avon, you will make a percentage of everything that they sell...forever. You are essentially duplicating yourself and making money off the efforts of other representatives. But finding new reps can be a challenge. Here are a few ideas for where you might find people interested in signing up to sell Avon:
1) Post ads or leave business cards on free community bulletin boards at grocery stores and coffee shops. Many of these places have free bulletin boards where you can post an ad or a business card. You can get cheap business cards printed through http://www.vistaprint.com or print your own on your home computer. Keep an eye out for these free community bulletin boards everywhere you go, and always have something with your contact information in case you find one. You'll be surprised how many Avon leads these free bulletin boards can provide.
2) Get a cheap classified ad in the local newspaper or Penny Saver. In most communities you can place a classified ad in one of these publications for less than $30, and you can get discounts if you run your ad in multiple issues. Check the Avon representative website for approved advertising copy as there are some regulations you must follow. People often browse the classified section of their newspaper and this can be another great recruiting tool for you.
3) Place recruiting literature in each Avon brochure you hand out. Your current customer base can be your best source of new Avon representatives. You don't have to be pushy. Avon makes friendly recruiting postcards that you can slip inside each brochure you deliver. That way, if someone is interested in the Avon sales opportunity, they can contact you to get more information.
Recruiting a sizable Avon downline can take some time and effort, but it is well worth it in the end. A successful downline can mean a monthly commission check from Avon for hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars per month. If you are interested in signing up to sell Avon, contact your local Avon sales representative. They can give you all the information you need.

success lies within a particular person. Those who make excuses for why they failed will continue to fail. There is great opportunity to succeed at anything in life! No matter how many other people are trying it! There are over 200 million people in the US and only 6 million Avon representatives so I hardly think there are more reps than customers! Some are just always apt to blame other for their failures rather than look at why the really failed and correct it. Avon does not REQUIRE anyone to buy anything so if you spend too much on your own personal order and can't afford to pay it that is your own fault! If you are treating it as a business and collecting the money for the products you sell to your customers then you do indeed make a very nice profit! You can earn up to 50% and most reps earn an average of 30 to 40% with minimal effort. If the books just sit in your living room don't expect much. For those that actually have ambition to talk with their friends and family and treat
The REAL reasons Avon is over-recruiting: Women are so disgusted and frustrated once they become reps that they QUIT. Over 50% quit every single year. Second, Avon makes their money of NEW recruits, who, with stars in their eyes, order lots of stuff like demos and samples, to get started. Only they find out, oops, they have to pay out of pocket to meet their Avon bill each and every campaign. And eventually hubby -- or reality -- gives Avon the boot. Usually within the first six months to a year. If you don't believe me about Avon, I have a quotation from a woman who was interviewed to become a salaried Avon district Manager. She said the District Mgr training her said they have to recruit one women per day because Avon only really makes their money off new recruits. Rephrased: Avon plays upon the gullibility of women to gain their profit, without concern to the financial damage it will do said women.
In response to Downie. More BS. Once a new rep starts to talking to women, she really does find out that -- yes -- there are two other reps on her street. Yes, nearly everyone does know or already have an Avon rep. Yes, competing Avon reps really do steal brochures. (They also spread rumors and sometimes threaten other reps.) The Avon reps who have been around a long time are seething against Avon's influx of newbie reps -- who seem to think nothing of stealing brochures, customers, etc. It's not in their moral code. Now of course their are good newbie reps who just want to establish a nice little business. But their expenses far exceed their profit even if they don't buy anything for themselves. Why? Because there isn't enough market share left in their town to leave them anough customers to make a profit. This also has been proven over and over again. Only 1% of reps in Leadership make a profit when. Only 10% of sales-only reps ever see a profit. Worth it? No.
I've been an avon rep for 8 years now and love every minute of it. I get to meet new people everyday and just recently started Leadership. The opportunites are endless!!!
I am looking for Big Yellow Box Game Representative that is available in or near the New Hampshire area. We have a children safety fundraiser that we would like to have this company attend. If anyone knows of someone please refer them to angie@heartofspirithealing.com
Thank you.
I'd like to address the March 29th comment.
It's true that Avon does not restrict the number of reps that can be recruited in any one area but, unless you live in a very small town and all of your neighbors are also Avon ladies, this will most likely not affect your sales. The average Avon Lady begins building her sales business through her family, friends, work colleagues and organizations to which she belongs. While there may be some cross over from time to time with another Representative, this is rarely a source of conflict. A successful rep can make a very nice commission off of her regular customers (with 10-20 orders per campaign). Is this affected by Avons policy of not restricting recruitment? Of course not. One Avon lady's social circle is not likely to be identical to another's. Therefore, her sales circle will not be identical to another's. Again, there might be overlap but that's normal and healthy competition. Most reps I know will gladly provide even better c
Unfortunately, Avon sets no limits on the number of representatives that can be recruited in one area. This results in so many representatives in one area that you either have to steal customers or drive way out of town to develop a customer base. Avon's solution to this problem is to instruct you to go into Leadership to earn more money -- doing what? Recruiting more Avon representatives. When the big money comes from recruiting and getting recruits to buy inventory, Avon moves into Pyramid Scheme land.
