The "Blue Bin Recycling Program" provides two blue bins to every home and can be obtained from the following offices:

Recyclables are collected by Waste Management and Treasure Coast Refuse on a weekly basis, with the exception of Indian River Shores (every other week). Pick up days vary depending upon area and collection service. For Vero Beach City Limits, Orchid Island, Gifford, Winter Beach, Fellsmere or Sebastian, contact Waste Management for pick up days. All places south of Vero Beach City Limits should contact Treasure Coast Refuse for pick up days. In an effort to encourage recycling, the charges are included in the solid waste assessment.
For Curbside Garbage Collection Service , contact Treasure Coast Refuse at (772) 562-6620 (City of Vero Beach and the north portion of the county including the City of Sebastian and the City of Fellsmere ) or Waste Management (772) 569-1776 (south Indian River County).
There are several convenience centers in Indian River County where recyclables can be dropped off. All convenience centers are open from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Roseland: 7860 130th Street, Closed Tuesday and Wednesday
Winter Beach: 3955 65th Street, Closed Tuesday and Wednesday
Gifford: 4901 41st Street, Closed Tuesday and Wednesday
Old Dixie: 950 First Place , Closed Wednesday and Thursday
Fellsmere: 12510 County Road 512 Closed Wednesday and Thursday
What you can recycle:
Plastic bottles and containers: Plastic numbered 1 through 7 can be identified by looking for the number on the bottom of the container. Plastic bags and wrap are not accepted. Make sure to remove lids and rinse the containers.
Paper/Cardboard: Many paper items can be recycled - newspaper, phone books, envelopes, junk mail, office paper, shredded paper (in a clear plastic bag), catalogs/magazines, brown paper bags, other paper products (cereal/food boxes, pizza boxes, soda/beer boxes) and corrugated cardboard (flattened, no larger and 2'x3')
Glass: Green, brown and clear glass containers/bottles may be recycled.
Aluminum/Steel cans: Different cans can be recycled - soda/beer cans, coffee cans, fruit/vegetable/soup cans, pie/cookie/popcorn tins, pet food cans and aerosol cans (non-hazardous waste)
Sharps: Sharps/needles in the appropriate container can be taken to the Health Department in exchange for a new container. They may also be taken to a one of five convenience centers or the landfill for proper disposal.
