Once you have established a budget and time frame you need to decide what theme you would like to do the bedroom in. Think about what your child really likes or collects. If you have a younger child you could do something like Disney, Winnie the Pooh, Spider Man, Tinker Bell, and Disney Princess, just to name a few. An older teenage child might something like NASCAR, basketball, football, moon and starts, their favorite band or even favorite colors. While these are only examples, you will know what your child likes and you should go with that theme if it fits in your budget.
After establishing your budget, time frame and theme, the fun part begins! If you plan on painting the walls or putting up a wall border do that first. Pick a color that coordinates with your theme. You can find thousands of different wall borders from Wal-Mart, EBay, Home Depot, Lowes and many online shops. Usually is a store has paint they will have a borders though you will find a wider variety online.
Once you have completed your painting and wall borders, start decorating with pieces that you have picked out to go with your theme. Pictures, curtains, plaques, trinkets, and an occasional matching lamp will help to bring out the theme. Matching throw pillows are also a great way to bring out color and the theme.
Once you have your room set up the way you want it, arrange toys and books so that they are nice and neat. Organization is a key to having a nice looking room. While you are not likely to find a NASCAR bookshelf or shoe rack, a color that coordinates in with your theme or a simple white will do just fine!
Now your child has a great space to play, relax, study and have fun! Remember it's their dream room so make sure it's themed for what they desire!

Very good article. I'd be happy just to FIND my daughter's room, LOL. Before I could re-decorate, I would need a bulldozer first!
