How to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint and Save Money Easily

Zac Linzmeier
As you may be well aware all people produce a carbon footprint, a measure of our harmful impact on the environment through the use of fossil fuels which emit harmful byproducts. Fortunately, there is a way to reduce your current carbon footprint and start becoming a responsible member of our earth.

The easiest way to reduce your carbon footprint is to simply reduce your use of fossil fuels. This means conserve power, most power is produced by burning coal. Turn off your lights when you leave a room and use tactics such as hanging your clothes to dry rather than using a drier. If you simply think with electrical conservation in mind you will be surprised at just how much electricity you needlessly waste every day. Another way to reduce your use of fossil fuels is to change your transportation habits. Instead of driving short distances consider walking or biking. Think of carpooling or using public transportation for longer distances. Certainly drive as efficiently as possible, avoiding extra trips. The benefit of these techniques for reducing your carbon footprint is that you also save money, both on electricity and on gas costs.

Another great way to reduce your carbon footprint and save money is through home green technologies. Rather than having to change your lifestyle to reduce your carbon footprint you can merely change your sources of energy to environmentally friendly ones. This means installing roof solar panel units or perhaps a wind turbine to provide your own renewable and environmentally friendly electricity. You may also continue to drive and reduce your carbon footprint in a few other different ways. The first is obvious, and growing in popularity, this is to purchase a hybrid or even fully electrical car; even simply trading in your big truck for a 35 mpg car can have a huge impact. You can also take your current vehicle and install a HHO, or hydrogen, generator in order to greatly increase your gas mileage and thus the amount of fuel that you purchase and burn to cover the same distance.

Hopefully you can take at least one of these ideas and apply it to your life and routine in order to not only undertake the environmentally responsible task of reducing your carbon footprint but also to help save yourself a considerable amount of money on energy bills that seem ever rising even as the economy, and wages, seem to be declining faster and faster.
