How to Reduce Childbirth Pain

Sam Carson
If you are going to childbirth, one way on how to reduce childbirth pain is to forget your fear. Pain and fear are connected with each other. Fear usually causes hormonal imbalance. These increase the stress hormones, which counteract the helpful hormones that you need to produce in order to enhance the labor process and relieve discomfort.

Other physiological effect of fear is that it can reduce the blood flow in a stressed muscle. Stressed muscles can produce pain stimulus.

You should not only be prepared physically during labor, you also need to be emotionally ready. You need to face your fear head-on since this allows you to confront the situation and prepare in advance. Being a mother-to-be brings too much fear on your mind. You need to overcome these fears by listing them all down on a piece of paper. You need to write each one and write the things that you can do to avoid each fear.

Another way of releasing tension and decrease childbirth pain is to be educated properly on what you will expect during childbirth or during labor. There are different stages of labor and childbirth. It is natural that there are certain stages from which you would really feel childbirth pain. Stages are usually from the first contraction and the final stage of childbirth.

Being informed on what will happen and why will help you face your fear and you will be able to overcome childbirth pain. Taking a childbirth class can help you build your confidence during labor.

Make sure that you do not allow any fear mongers in the labor room. Fear is sometimes contagious. Try to avoid fearful replays. If there is something that reminds you of a bad experience in your previous childbirth, it is better to leave that thing at home.

You need to have confidence on your doctor or midwife. Choose these professionals wisely, make sure that you have confidence in them and that you are comfortable being with them during your childbirth or labor. After a few visits during your check up, do you feel comfortable that you will have a smooth childbirth under their practice. If you have the confidence to say yes, then I am sure you are on your way to a more stress-free childbirth.

If you think that you cannot bear the pain of childbirth, know your options for childbirth pain medical relief. One of your options is epidural anesthesia. Ask your doctor about it.
