Streamline your wallet. Perhaps the biggest culprit to a heavy purse is an overloaded wallet. First of all, purchase a slimmer model. There is no need to carry a wallet the size of a shoebox. Go through your wallet thoroughly and remove unused credit cards, store reward cards, and expired insurance cards. Get in the habit of removing change from your purse every night. Coins really weigh down purses and no one needs $11 in change on them at all times. This one simple step will really lighten the load in your purse or bag.
Clean it out weekly. I know, I know, nobody likes to clean out a purse. But, this necessary step will really lighten the load in your purse or bag. On the weekend, take a few minutes to quickly clean out your purse. If you are a mom like me, you may find tiny cars, crayons, and dirty tissues, among other junk. Emptying out these useless items weekly will keep them from piling up and adding unnecessary ounces onto your shoulders.
Consider the weight of your next phone. The next time you are purchasing a new cell phone, compared the weights. Similar cell phones may differ dramatically in how much they weigh. Since cell phones are an almost essential part of any woman's purse, this item is important to keep on the light side. If you find two phones you like equally, choose the lighter one to help lighten the load in your purse or bag.
Streamline the extras. There is nothing wrong with having a stash of just about everything in your purse from lipstick to mints, hair accessories, and fingernail files. These items are great to have on hand and there is no need to eliminate them from your purse just to make it lighter. It is, however, a great idea to eliminate all but ONE of each type of item. One lipstick, one tube of lip balm, and one of just about everything else in your purse is plenty. Toting around 14 lipsticks not only makes your purse heavier, but you likely forget you even own several of the shades. Lighten the load in your purse or bag by eliminating duplicate items.
Save your back, shoulders, and arms by reducing the weight you carry in your purse or bag. You will be amazed how much weight you can eliminate from your purse or bag and never miss a single item. Try these tips, and your doctor, as well as your body, will be thankful.
