How to Reduce the Work of Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning Made Easy

Laurie Childree
Spring cleaning is that time of year when everything in the home is cleaned. Every item is then moved and cleaned over, under and around to ensure that every speck of offending dust or dirt has been dealt with. The entire process takes hours to complete leaving those participating spent with aches everywhere. There has to be a better way to get this task done; a way that does not require spending an entire day couped up like a caged animal wishing that there was the option to push a button and have it done without lifting a finger.

Don't Wait To Clean Everything

When a thorough house cleaning is put off it only creates more work in the end. Keeping up with major cleaning though the year can eliminate the need for spring cleaning. Areas behind appliances are often only cleaned once a year if at all. Take a few minutes each week to clean behind an appliance to prevent build up from occurring. Keeping something clean means less work in the long run.

Reduce Items That Have To Be Cleaned

Getting rid of items that you do not want or need will cut down on the amount of cleaning that you have to do. Taking the time to go through the home and figure out what is not and will not be used can be refreshing. Eliminating the items that are not doing anything other than collecting dust will provide fewer items that have to be dusted or washed. It's not just dust collecting knick-knacks that this applies to, the closet falls into the clean out of unwanted and unneeded items as well.

When clothing is outgrown instead of storing it away for when you get back into it, you could go ahead and donate it. Items that have been too worn out to use anymore can be used to clean house.

Small Things Make A Difference

The small things make a big difference when it comes to keeping the house clean. Little things like wiping down the stove, counter tops and tables when you finish will prevent having to do a lot of work later. Simple things like putting the dishes and laundry up as soon as they are dry will save you a lot of work later.

Spring cleaning doe not have to be done once a year. Keeping the house clean can reduce the amount of time spent on the once a year thorough cleaning known as spring cleaning.
