How to Get Referrals Online

Steven Jacob Borthick
Getting referrals for sites that pay you to refer people can be difficult, especially since not everybody that you talk to is interested in what you have to say. The best way to get referrals then is to follow these general guidelines.

4. Post your referral link in your signature!
A lot of people post in forums and community websites, and a lot of these sites allow signatures to be attached. In your signature, say something like, "I get paid to read ads, how about you? Follow the link to begin!" Then post your referral link (which typically has your username or some user ID number in the URL).

3. Make a Website
Design a website specifically for the referring people to your cause. There are many free websites available, including Bravenet, Freewebs, and Angelfire. Don't make it too long, but be sure to explain the benefits of joining.

2. E-mail People the Link
If you have friends or family that are interested in what you've joined, send them your referral link, informing them that they have an opportunity to do what they love on that website. You don't necessarily have to tell them that your link is a "referral ID", just make sure that you don't simply send them a link that says, "www.website.com". Make sure the link looks something like this: "www.website.com/?ref=username" or "www.website.com/q&idref=999999"... it will look something like that. No, those aren't real referral IDs there, but they are a guideline. If you ever have help finding your referral ID, message the webmasters and ask for help.

If you don't know anyone that is interested in the same things you are, do Google searches for e-mails of people. When you've found a match, e-mail them saying, "I've noticed you like doing [such-and-such]. Well, there's a website called [website name] that allows you to do more of this. Join it at [insert your referral URL]. Cheers!" People will be more likely to be drawn to it since it targets them specifically.

1. Spam
This is a very bad option because websites tend to block users IP addresses for doing so. However, spamming is very much alive on the net today. The only reason for that is that it works. Find miscellaneous websites and post your referral ID all over the site, with a message saying what it's for.

Good luck referring others!
