How to Reinvent Your Body After Age Forty

First, you need to adjust to every day stresses of daily living. Once you pass the forty mark your body starts to change. Your memory's not as sharp and some of us start packing on pounds. We tend to feel hopeless and helpless but we need to recharge and work on our mental and physical health.

Take good care of yourself. Eat healthy meals, go for walks, or soak in the tub. Get those special moments that you need to pamper yourself. Eat lean protein so that you can increase a sense of fullness in your meal. This will help you to maintain muscles, and curb your cravings for carbs. Women are always under eating protein. Any of these will help in this area: lean poultry, skim, and low fat dairy.

When you exerise, interchange yoga, pilates, and martial arts to intensify and challenge your muscles. Don't obsess over your weight or the little changes that your body is going through, just face the day and love yourself. Monitor your fat, not your weight. Attempt to keep your body fat in the range of 20-28%. The best average is 25%. If your are over 60 and postmenopausal, your body fat range can be up to 32% because of the age related muscle loss.

Be sure and plan those self care routines. These routines can abe stress management classes, gym memberships, or just shopping for healthier foods. You won't need the same amount of calories that you needed when you were younger. That's why a lot of women tend to overeat throughout the day. The evening is a big problem for most women. They think that it is the time to relax and reward themselves after a hard day. They eat too many sweets and other goodies before bedtime.

Only eat every three to four hours throughout the day til dinner. Eat your dinner no later than 8-8:30 pm. Try not to eat anything prior to going to bed. You'll feel refreshed when you rise the next ready to eat your breakfast on an empty stomach. During the day find a quiet place to just read a book, pray, meditate, or do your yoga. Make an effort to laugh and be happy each and every day. Love your body, love yourself.
