Regardless of how fulfilling we all feel that our jobs or careers are there will be a time in which we are struggling with the decisions that we have made. Some decisions will be questioned while others will be fraught with nothing but regret and sorrow. What must be done to be able to be happy and get back on track is to rejuvenate your mind to find out what would make you happy. There are three essential questions that can help you do just that:
- Do I give the appearance of someone who is successful? You should reassess the way you dress for work and the way you present yourself to the people around you. Your actual appearance is important in terms of the way that you dress, but it is even more important to consider the way you act. Are you overly negative at work? This will cause the same effect on people around you so don't do it, you don't want to be the person that brings everyone down.
- Do I have the skills to get to where I want to be? Many people go to work and do as they are told and work hard for years and then have a startling revelation, they have no discernable skills. You can sometimes get so wrapped up in helping others that you have done nothing to improve your skill set. Consider taking classes or changing departments at your job to challenge your mind and expand your options.
- Do I have the work-life balance that I want? This term was largely ignored for many, many years until the recent past when people finally decided that work could be affecting home. Ask yourself if you work too much, too hard or if you take things to personally at work. Consider changing your work commitments to allow you to be home more and enjoy the fruits of your labor. This doesn't mean you abandon work, but that maybe you have achieved a lot and should sit back and enjoy it for a moment.
