How to Rekindle the Romance in Your Marriage

Sarah Rachel
After being married for nearly a decade and having two babies it can be a challenge to find time for romance. However, putting forth the extra effort to bring back the romance has helped my husband and I to grow closer. The special things we do for each other helps to renew our love and appreciation for one another. It is impossible to be romantic all the time, due to our many responsibilities, but that is part of what makes romance so special. If we were romantic every single day we would probably get bored with it. Yet, waiting until the right time is what makes the romance so enjoyable. Being romantic on the spur of the moment is one thing you can do to bring back the spice in any marriage. Let's face it, marriage takes work and dedication, and finding time to let your partner know how much you care strengthens the bond between the both of you.

Although you may be thinking that you have no idea where to begin especially if you're not usually romantic. Here are a few tips to help you rekindle the romance in your marriage.

1). Surprises! To most people the element of surprise is exciting. Surprising your special someone, especially when they least expect it can be a great deal of fun, and it can help to bring back the spark of romance in your relationship. Think about what your mate likes, and surprise them with it. Does your wife love roses or dinner at a certain restaurant? Does your husband love to see you in your French maid outfit? Does he enjoy a particular hobby like hunting? Surprise him with a new gift centered around his hobby just because. It doesn't even need to be a special occasion.

2). Plan date night. Date night can be something both you and your spouse look forward to each week. It is a special night spent doing something that the two of you enjoy doing together. If you have kids find a reliable baby sitter or relative to watch the kids once a week or at least once a month. You can spend date night going to a movie, dinner or even playing miniature golf. The point is to find something that you both enjoy, even if it's just for a couple hours.

3). Express your feelings with the written word. Write your spouse a poem or simply write a note expressing how much you love them and why. You can even write a list of all the reasons why you love your partner. Put this note in their purse, wallet or lunch sac for the next day.

4). Take a walk in a quiet place. Just taking a walk together in a quiet park or neighborhood can be just the thing you need to help rekindle feelings. If it's possible it is also a good idea to bring your spouse back to the place you met, and just to talk about your life, and how far you've come. This could result in a sensual kiss. My husband and I met in high school nearly 15 years ago, so going back to that place on a weekend could certainly spark up memories of our first special moments together.

5). Create a CD. A special priceless gift you can give your spouse is a CD with your favorite songs that have special meaning for the both of you.
