How Do I Remember a Kennedy?

How Do I Remember a Kennedy?

A loser for cheating at Harvard, or a winner for returning to it?

A heavy drinker that is directly responsible for a woman's death, or a heavy drinker with the weight of death on his shoulders?

An enabler who facilitates alleged rapes because the rapists are family members, or an enabler who co-sponsored No Child Left Behind?

The Lion of the Senate because what he wanted to pass in Congress passed, or the Lion of the Senate because what he actually passed in Congress worked?

An American legend for changing the Constitution, or an American legend for getting away scot-free with many, many crimes?

A prince because he led well, or a prince because daddy killed many kings in the real estate and movie business?

A civil rights activist for supporting Martin Luther King, Jr., and Barack Obama, or an insightful opportunist?

A fair guy for capping individual campaign contributions, or a smart guy for getting his money elsewhere?

A disappointment because his weaknesses kept him from becoming President, or a favored son because his weaknesses didn't destroy him?

A man for his successes, or a man for his failures?

I'm sure it will be debated quite profitably by many for many years.

Inspired by the death of Senator Ted Kennedy, the Lion of the Senate, whom President Barack Obama described as "the greatest Senator of our time."

AC's licentious, guilty pleasure. What can I say? I write about sex and money. You know, the important stuff. Giggle. (But I do it so well!) Fashion, too. LOL  View profile
