One of the most common causes of algae in a pool consists of no chlorine in the water. This is true every year when you open your pool and didn't run your pool filter throughout the winter months. You'll have black algae and green algae throughout the whole pool. During the startup you should buy shock treatment and follow the direction in putting in the right amount based on the gallons of water your pool holds. You need to shock your pool once a week for three weeks. Also, you'll need to add an algaecide to your pool during this time as well. After three weeks you'll start to see a difference in the pools color with it turning blue.
Once you get the pool's water to turn blue then you'll have to provide ongoing pool maintenance to keep the pool from getting algae again. You should keep chlorine in the pool especially where the filter pulls water back to the pool filter this way the chlorine is cycled and put back in the pool again.
Also, as part of the ongoing maintenance you'll need to run the filter of the pool at least twelve hours a day during the summer season. This way the filter is getting items out of the pull and the chlorine is being dispersed throughout the pool.
Another great tool to have for maintaining or helping eliminate algae in the pool is a good brush where you can brush the sides and the bottom of the pool to keep any algae buildup circulating and allow the chlorine and algaecide to kill the algae.
Algae in the pool is probably the most common thing among pool owners, but following the pool tips above will help control and eliminate all your algae problems throughout the swimming season in your state.
The last great pool tip to keep algae out of your pool is to swim in it on a regular basis because it will keep the particles in the pool stirred up so that the filter and chemicals can remove and kill the algae before it becomes a widespread problem.
