How to Remove Arm Hair

Jody Morse
Do you have really hairy arms? Or perhaps your arm hair just bothers you, even though it's not too too bad. Either way, hairy arms can be quite embarassing. If so, you have probably thought about shaving them - even though you know that it is probable that your hair will grow back in thicker and coarser. You may have often wondered what other arm hair removal options were available to you. Here, we will take a much closer look at some of the options that you may want to think about if you are interested in removing your own arm hair.

Waxing

Whether you decide to go to the salon to have your arms waxed or if you buy a kit which allows you to do this at home, you really may want to look at waxing as an option for yourself. One of the benefits of waxing hair is the fact that it is known to damage the hair follicles among some people. What this means is that, over time, you may notice that your hair will grow back a little bit finer than the way it originally was - if it even grows back at all. The hair is also known to take a longer time to grow back in when you make the decision to wax. The only problem with waxing is the fact that some people cannot seem to handle the pain involved, which most compare to ripping off a Band-Aid.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is becoming a popular hair removal option for just about any type of hair, including arm hair. One to two sessions will help thin out the hair, and after three sessions your hair will be removed. You can decide what works the best for you. Though it is a bit more expensive than other hair removal options, many find it to be well worth it. Keep in mind that it is important to go to a reputable, experienced spa because otherwise you may end up with a laser hair removal technician who does not know what they are doing, which can lead to pain and even permanent scarring in some cases.

Hair Removal Products

Creams or lotions which are designed to remove body hair are a really great option for the removal of arm hair. Some great and reputable options include Nair and Veet. Many find that Veet tends to work quicker, as there is a tool included which allows you to easily encourage the hair to come off. Since arm hair has a tendency to not be very coarse, you will not even need to leave a hair removal product cream or lotion on long in order to remove the hair.

Any of these options are excellent choices if you are interested in removing the hair from your own arms. Since none of them involve shaving with razor blades, you will not need to worry about your hair growing in thicker or coarser. It is important to consider your own personal needs when choosing the hair removal method that will be best for your arms - whether it has to do with the cost involved or the level of pain that you may be faced with. If you have thought about using a razor to remove your arm hair, it is important to keep in mind that this can cause thickness in the hair that grows in, which is highly unnecessary.

It is a myth that shaving causes hair to grow back thicker. This myth is perpetauted by the fact that we usually begin shaving our legs or faces during adolescence, when body hair is still developing, so it appears that the shaving causes the hair to be thicker and coarser when it grows back. However, if someone waits until the hair is fully developed before they begin shaving, they will see no appreciable difference in hair quality. In fact, many adults see their body hair begin to lose coarseness and thickness in their late 20s, after years of shaving, due to the same hormonal shifts that lead to thinner scalp hair.
