Have you ever walked through your living room and spilled wax from your "Over the Hill" candle onto your cream colored carpet? Or had a no-burn candle's glass jar crack and pour red wax all over your bedroom carpet? If this has happened can you remember what a chore it was to remove the wax from the carpet?
Well there is a simple solution for removing wax from a carpet or rug and all you will need is some paper grocery bags, an iron (not a golf club for you male readers), and some little elbow grease.
To begin, you need to find some paper grocery bags. You will need to use areas of the paper bag that do NOT have graphics or writing on them. If you use the side with graphics the colors from the ink will bleed into the wax and you will have an even bigger mess to take care of.
Carefully tear off pieces of the bag without ink into a sizes that are somewhat bigger than the area of wax needed to clean up. You will need to be able to hold onto the piece of paper while running an hot iron over it.
Once you have a good amount of pieces turn your iron onto a medium heat. Let the iron heat up and then be ready to remove that wax stain.
Place a piece of the paper bag over the wax stain and carefully run the iron over the paper bag for at least 10 seconds. Stop ironing and lift the paper bag. You will see that the wax clings to the bag and is lifted off of the carpet.
Continue this process until all of the wax is removed from the carpet or rug. It may take several minutes to remove all of the wax, but this is a sure fire way to do it neat and effective.
After you are done with the iron and bags you can run your vacuum over the spot to pick up any loose wax.
Remember, candles are one of the leading causes of house fires. Make sure to put out all candles when going to bed or leaving your home. If possible use "no-burn" candles and a heating surface instead. Keep candles away from animals and small children. Use a candle snuffer to put out the flame. DO NOT blow out your candles. This can cause a spark to fly off of the flame and start a fire.
Hope this helps.

Post a CommentHi - heres a tip from the rugsale team about removing
wax from your rugs.
From my experience using a simple brown paper bag and warm iron usually does the trick.
Heres how:
Place a single layer of the brown paper onto the wax - place a warm/hot iron on top of the paper being careful not to apply the iron directly to the rug.
The heat from the iron will melt the wax and the brown bag will absorb the wax!
