How to Remove Candle Wax from Upholstery - Step #1
The first thing you need to do in order to remove candle wax from upholstery is to fill a plastic freezer bag with ice. Then, lay the ice-filled bag on the candle wax for several minutes. This will freeze the candle wax. Once the candle wax is frozen, remove the ice and chip away any of the wax that you can. It should be easy to get the larger pieces of candle wax off of the upholstery when the wax is frozen.

Next, in order to remove candle wax from upholstery, take a brown grocery bag or lunch bag and lay it over the candle wax. Make sure you use a part of the bag that has no ink or writing on it at all. This could cause further staining. If you don't have a brown paper bag to remove candle wax from upholstery, you could also use wax paper. Now, use a hot iron to press over the candle wax, allowing it to absorb into the paper bag (or wax paper). This step should remove the majority of the candle wax from upholstery.
How to Remove Candle Wax from Upholstery - Step #3
The next step you'll take to remove candle wax from upholstery is to use a cleaner to spot clean the area. I use a mixture of baking soda, vinegar, borax and water. But you can use any upholstery safe cleaner that you have on hand or make some yourself. Once you've thoroughly cleaned the area, blow dry to completely dry the spot.
How to Remove Candle Wax from Upholstery - Step #4
Most of the candle wax should be removed from the upholstery by now but if you have any stain remaining, use hydrogen peroxide to bleach out the color. Three percent hydrogen peroxide works best for the purpose of removing candle wax from upholstery and it can easily be found at your local drugstore. Simply apply about a tablespoon full of the peroxide to the stained area and let it sit for about ten-fifteen minutes. Blot dry and continue this step until you have removed all of the color from the candle wax from the upholstery.
This method is the safest and easiest way to remove candle wax from upholstery without causing any damage to your furniture. Good luck!
