How to Remove Cat Urine from Upholstery

In my opinion, there is nothing worse than the smell of cat urine. It has that distinct-putrid odor will haunt you all your life if it is not cleaned properly. It is like a cockroach, it will never die! And most of the time it takes a lot of patience and time to kill it.

Enough is enough! If your cat had an accident on your carpet, couch, chair, or any other of your furnishings, I can tell you how to get rid of it. Not just cover up the smell, but actually kill it and keep the odor away. Follow the steps I give for an easy cat urine removal and prepare to say "buh bye" to the nasty smell.

What you will need:

A rag that you are willing to use on cat urine

A cleaning bucket

A scrubbing brush

White vinegar

Some kind of liquid dish soap

Eucalyptus oil

Step 1 - You will need to absorb the cat urine as quickly as possible with something, such as paper towels; whatever you have on hand. If the cat urine is already dried into the carpet or couch or whatever the cat urinated on, obviously you do not have to worry about absorbing it so just skip this step.

Step 2 - You are going to need to mix up a cat urine killing solution. This is where the white vinegar, liquid dish soap, and eucalyptus oil comes in. You will need to get out your cleaning bucket and mix together about ¼ cup of white vinegar, a couple drops of eucalyptus oil, and 2 teaspoons liquid dish soap. Mix this solution well before moving on to the next step.

Step 3 - After you have absorbed any cat urine that may be present, apply a proper amount of your cat urine solution on the spot. You do not have to be easy with the solution. The cat urine will be soaking down deep into your carpet and padding so you want your solution to do the same. Allow the solution to sit for about an hour.

Step 4 - Scrub the spot with your scrubbing brush for a couple minutes to make sure everything has mixed in well with the urine and then move onto the next step.

Step 5 - Wet your rag with hot water and make it very damp (you do not want it to be dripping everywhere though). Dab at the solution covered area and remove the solution. You may have to do this a couple times to get all the soap and everything out. Now just let sit and dry.
