How to Remove Lipstick Stains

There's almost nothing worse than a lipstick stain on the collar of your favorite white shirt. Lipstick stains are very difficult to remove, no matter what shade of color or brand of lipstick. Guys aren't the only ones who have to worry about lipstick stains with the infamous "lipstick on the collar," women also get lipstick stains on their clothes frequently by accident.

Lipstick stains, like a lot of other types of stains, are especially annoying because if you try to rub them out with a regular sponge or wash cloth, you'll just spread the stain around and make it worse. So, how does one effectively remove lipstick stains? Well, it's easy and that's what I'm going to teach you.

Here are a few things you need:

1. A white wash cloth

2. A white towel

3. Rubbing alcohol or grease solvent (acetone)

You probably already have most of these things lying around your house. Grease solvent is the only out-of-the-ordinary item, but rubbing alcohol will work just fine, and you probably have a bottle of that somewhere in your medicine cabinet. If you do have grease solvent, and you want to use that, just make sure that the solvent only contains "acetone" and NOT "acetate." Let's just say acetate could leave you with undesired results.

Okay, now that you have what you need, you're ready to get started. Here is how to get the lipstick stain out:

Step #1. Put the stained piece of clothing on the white towel, with the stained side down.

Step #2. Take a clean white rag or washcloth and dip it into the rubbing alcohol or grease solvent. Then dab the back of the stain over and over again. The stain should visibly start to break up and disappear.

Step #3. Once the stain has pretty much disappeared, wash the garment as you normally would.

I would suggest washing your stained garment on the "hot/cold" setting because hot water will do a better job of getting the stains out of the fibers than warm or cold water. If it's a white shirt or garment you're washing, I would also suggest adding a cap full of bleach to the wash.

Your stained clothing should come out looking fresh and clean, just like it is brand new. If any remnants of the stain are still showing, just repeat this process and the stain should be gone for sure after the second time around. Hope this works out well for you!
