You can get infected in a number of different ways. You can download pirated software, and the rogue antivirus is bundled in the download without you knowing. You can get a fake pop-up when surfing the web, telling you your computer is infected, and it brings you to a website that "scans" your computer. Then it will download it onto your computer without you knowing.
To remove Malware Bell, just follow these steps. (note, some later versions of malware bell can block access to some of these sites. If it does, download what I tell you to download on a usb stick from another computer and plug it in on the infected computer and install it from the usb stick.)
1. Download and install Malware Bytes from malwarebytes.org
2. Update Malware Bytes
3. Perform a quick scan.
4. Remove everything that it found
5. Restart your computer.
But it's not that easy...
Open up task manger to see if it is still running, if it is, end the task "malwarebell.exe".
Now, download and install "Super Anti Spyware" from superantispyware.org.
Perform a scan, and remove anything that it found, if there is any.
Now "Malware Bell" is removed from your computer!
Now, let's make sure your safe from other rogues on the internet.
1. Download firefox from firefox.org
Firefox is one of the safest internet browsers around, if you want to stay safe, it's best to download this.
2. Download "mywot" plugin for firefox at mywot.com
For more information about mywot, go to mywot.com and watch the demo on the first page.
3. Avoid filesharing websites.
4. Never, ever download ANYTHING from a pop-up.
Malware Bell, is just a example on how bad rogues can be. Malware Bell doesn't do this, but some rogues can take your computer as a "hostage" and if you don't pay them to remove the viruses in a certain number of days, they can completely destroy your computer, so you have to act fast if you get one.
