How to Remove Minor Wall Mold

Mold is a big cause of disease and illness. It can be found just about anywhere and everywhere, too. There is some mold out there that requires special attention from professionals, but you can take care of minor mold on your own if you want. It is cheaper on you this way.

I am going to teach you how to eliminate minor household mold. This may be a little time consuming on your part, but what cleaning is not? If you have a little time to spare and mold to clean, it is best to do it now before it spreads or becomes worse.

You will need:

A face mask

A mold cleaner (your choice)

Rubber gloves

A sponge

A cleaning rag

A plastic floor tarp

A bucket

Bleach

Make sure that you note it is best to wear old clothing while using these chemical cleaning products. If you feel best wearing safely goggles, do so. If any of these cleaning products make skin contact, wash off as soon as possible before they burn your skin. This will not happen as soon as it touches you, but it will happen if it sits too long.

Now is the time to put on your gloves and face mask before you begin the following steps. You do not want to inhale the mold or your cleaning products and you do not want them on you. Also get your tarps covering any surrounding floor area.

Step 1 - Get out your mold cleaner and follow the directions to make the solution. I cannot tell you how to make the solution because I do not know which product you are using; this part is completely up to you. Put that mold cleaning solution in a spray bottle if you did not already buy one prepared in a spray bottle.

Step 2 - Take your mold solution and spray it on the wall where the mold is located. Let the solution to sit 10-15 minutes. After the solution has sat on the moldy area, wash down the wall with hot water. This will get rid of any cleaning solution.

Step 3 - Once you have made sure there is no more mold cleaning solution on the wall, you can proceed to wash that area again with bleach water. You can also get a bleaching gel to let sit on the wall for about 20 minutes if you want to skip all the scrubbing. If you use the bleach gel, let it sit for the 20 minutes, and then wash down with clean hot water.

If you have any mold remaining after this, you may have to stand down that area and repaint. This all depends on how bad your mold is. Bad mold tends to eat away at the paint and cannot be removed with a simple cleansing. Other really bad molds may start to each away at your drywall and cause you to have to replace that drywall section.
