First, run command prompt by clicking START then RUN.
Then go to the root directory where your operating system is. Do this by typing "cd .." and ENTER twice. Or you can type "cd /."
The root directory is the uppermost directory of a logical drive.
Next, type "rmdir nitedn /s /q" this will remove the folder and files including the virus of that nintenD.exe virus. Note that the folder is not spelled the same as the .exe file. This won't work if the virus is being run by your computer.
To fix that, you need to restart your computer and go to safe mode. Do this by pressing and holding F5 immediately after your computer finishes POST. Select start in safe mode.
Use the unlocker software to remove the file. The virus will not be visible in msconfig or task manager. If you can't see the folder, modify your folder options to show hidden folders. Do this in the control panel in folder options.
You'll find out that you have this virus when an autorun.inf file keeps on appearing to your flash drive or external hard drive or whatever you have attached there and an NITEDN folder which is hidden keeps resurrecting itself.
Now that you have removed the virus from your drive proceed to removing it from the registry. Do this by running regedit. Then press CTRL+F for find then type in the string nintend. erase all registry that has that string.
To clean your flash drive, go to the root directory of your drive. do this by typing "e:" if it is in E: or "f:" if it is in F: . . . you get the concept.
Type in the following in sequence:
attrib -s -h -r
del *.inf
rmdir nintedn /s /q
That should do it. Note that quotation marks are not typed in the command prompt. Nintend.exe is unseen by most antivirus programs that I know. But its actions can bee seen by anti-spy-wares including kaspersky antivirus.
Nintend.exe is identified by various antivirus communities as a security risk. It is a worm that injects itself to explorer.exe to hide from task manager and msconfig. It also adds itself into the registry to be able to run on start up so may also want to clean the registry (use CTRL+F to find "nintend.exe" strings then delete all values containing the string). It resists interrogation by most anti-virus softwares. That is why it is undetectable by the usual scanning methods.
