The smell of skunk spray is revolting to say the least, and it makes most people gag when in close proximity. This is especially true why the malodorous spray is on the skin and clothing. Clothes can be thoroughly washed or thrown away. However, really bad odors seem to soak into the flesh and remain there, even after rubbing and thoroughly scrubbing. It is possible to remove using an old-fashioned tried and true method. Read on to find out how to remove the smell of skunk spray from skin, and get rid of the odor without buying expensive chemical products. Do it the old-fashioned way instead.

Precautionary Statement

Tomato juice and apple cider vinegar are naturally acidic, and they can cause irritation to sensitive skin. When unsure, do not use the following combination of natural remedies. Look for a store-bought product instead, and follow label directions and warnings. This is an old method to remove the smell of skunk spray from the skin, and even though it works, it is not the best solution for all. When in doubt, try it out on a small inconspicuous area before soaking in it.

Use These All-Natural Ingredients

To remove the smell of skunk spray from the skin you will need several large cans of tomato juice, a dozen fresh potatoes and a gallon of apple cider vinegar. You will also need a paring knife, a large plastic tote that is large enough to sit in and a nylon scrubby or an old washcloth. It is not necessary to measure the tomato juice or the vinegar. Exact amounts are not necessary. This will work to remove the smell of skunk spray from the skin better than any other homemade mixture.

Method of Skunk Spray Removal

Begin by discarding all clothing that came in contact with the skunk spray. Either set them aside to soak in the tomato juice mixture after using on the skin, or throw them away. They are not likely worth saving if they are old or in bad condition, especially if they smell really bad.

Next, pour all of the tomato juice into the plastic tote. Cut the potatoes into eighths before tossing them in. They are said to absorb the odor. Add a half a gallon of apple cider vinegar, and stir it in thoroughly.

Soak the skin in the tomato juice, potato and apple cider vinegar mixture for at least thirty minutes. Scrub the skin, and soak in it for five or ten minutes longer to get rid of the smell. Rinse it away, and shower as usual. Hopefully this will completely remove the smell of the skunk spray.
