Spy Sheriff is called a rogue (fake) antivirus program because it displays false threats that say your computer is infected. It blocks most real antivirus sites antivirus websites so you don't try to download it and remove it.
How to remove Spy Sheriff:
1. Download "MalwareBytes Anti Malware" from malwarebytes.org on another computer onto a USB drive.
2. Insert the USB drive into the infected computer and install Malware Bytes. It will ask you if you want to update it, click yes.
3. Now you have to open up task manger (ctrl alt del) and end the task Spy Sheriff.exe.
4. Next, do a quick scan with Malware Bytes by pressing "Quick Scan" in the main menu. (This may take a while)
5. After it did the quick scan, it will show you the results and will ask you to reboot your computer. Reboot your computer.
Now let's clean up some stuff Malware Bytes could have missed with "Super Anti-Spyware". Download and install and update Super Anti-Spyware from superantispyware.com. Disable any antivirus you have running and perform a quick scan.
If it found anything, make sure it's set to remove the selected viruses it found and reboot your computer. Now Spy Sheriff is gone from your computer!
Now that you have remove Spy Sheriff, it's time to learn a little about what your computer was infected with. Spy Sheriff is a "rogue" antivirus, meaning it's fake, and it displays fake results saying you have viruses and you have to buy there fake product to get rid of these "viruses". Rogue Anti viruses are becoming very popular on the net right now, so just remember never to download anything that you see in a advertisement, or that you got redirected too when you tried to visit legitimate site.
SpySheriff's Web site got shut down, but it is still putting it in illegal programs and file-sharing Web sites.
