After a spill, you take your ordinary table salt, and you pour it over the entire spill while it is still wet, and about a half inch outside the spill to make sure you get the entire spill up. You dont want to leave any liquid behind accidentally, to come out later do you? No I didn't think so! You will now continue to add salt, until you can no longer see the salt absorbing the liquid. Once you see that the salt is no longer absorbing liquid, you will now take your spoon, and you begin to scrape the complete area that you poured the salt on. If you notice some left behind moisture, you may add more salt, but only should you still need to absorb more liquid. There is no since in using all your salt, so only add more if you still are noticing moisture, after all, you may need some salt for dinner later! After scraping for about 1-5 min, depending on the size of the spill, you should be noticing some results. You should now notice the spill and stain gone, leaving behind only some granuals of the table salt.
Now it is time to finish the job with a quick vacuum, to get all the salt out of the carpet! If you dont believe it, try it on a piece of light colored carpet, that is not on your floor of course, and see for your self, just how simple this solution to stain fighting really is! I hope it is as big of a carpet and time saver for every one else out there, as it has been for me! When you have kids any thing that saves your carpet, and your time cleaning is a huge help! One of the major benefits of this cleaning solution, is you have used no harmful chemicals, so there is never going to be any threat to children or pets that are in your home now or in the future! That must ease any mother or pet owners fears of cleaning carpets, I know it was a huge relief for me! Take care and enjoy your new home remody...and enjoy all the free time you will now have...now that you will not spend it all on cleaning!

Post a CommentMother replying. I've had my beautiful carpet for years and always looked after it to perfection and then delightful daughter spills the red wine, ok so we all have accidents but to pour salt over it immediately did not work for us. I now have one very ruined carpet and still 5 days later trying to remove the stains, haven't been out all week just left cleaning!!!! My rememdy has always been soak up with a clean cloth if necessary a little washing up liquid on a wet cloth and that has always worked on every stain imaginable.
Yes i agree this is a very trusty method!!! However...you have to be sure your mother doesnt rub in the salt when she wakes from a coma, before you have the chance to finish the process!
