How to Remove Temporary Files From Your Computer to Increase Speed

C. O.
You may not realize it, but every time you visit web sites your computer keeps track of cookies, temporary, and history files which can cause some slow down in performance. These files stay in your cache and can hog up a lot of resources if there are a lot of these files in there. All of these files have a purpose, but deleting them will not harm your computer at all. The history files keep track of websites that you have visited on your computer. The temporary files are created from computer programs and are written to your computer if a program doesn't have enough memory at the time or if it crashes.

Also these files can be create if a programmer forgets to write a code inside their application to remove these files. Finally cookies are a type of information file that is sent by a web server to the browser. This files basically help your computer remember information which can make visiting websites that you have visited once before even faster to load up the second time. As a result all of these files add up and require large amounts of disk space which can affect computer performance greatly. By eliminating these annoying programs from your hard drive you will notice that your system will run a lot smoother and faster. In order to clean this cache you need to follow these next steps.

1.)Click on start then click on control panel

2.)Now double click on the internet options icon

3.)In this new window that will appear make sure your on the general tab and find the following three buttons: delete cookies, delete files, clear history

4.)Once you have pressed each of these buttons click on ok and your finished.

An alternative way to remove these files is to go to the directory C:WINDOWSTemp and remove them manually by sending them to your recycle bin. I suggest the first method of cleaning the cache for a two reasons. First, it's really easy and you can clear all of these files within a few minutes. Finally, if a person doesn't know what their doing and they delete the wrong files by using the C:WINDOWSTemp method then your system could be in serious trouble. Just remember that these files will come back so every now and then if you feel like it you can follow the same steps to remove them again.
