It is not uncommon for women to have issues with facial hair. Many women begin noticing signs of facial hair young as young as their 20's, and while it can be an embarrassing topic to discuss, it helps to know you are not alone. At one time or another, most adult women have sought treatment for unwanted facial hair. Here are a few things you can do at home to remove unwanted facial hair yourself. No one will have to know!

Unwanted facial hair can cause a great deal of stress to a woman's self image, so it is important to take whatever steps are necessary in removing the it. Thankfully there are many options available that are fairly inexpensive.

Hot wax

The method that works the best is to have the unwanted hair removed by hot wax. This was once only available in a salon, but there are now effective hot wax kits that can be used at home. Hot wax is applied to the area, then strips are placed over the hot wax. The strips are ripped off, which causes only slight discomfort, and the hair is instantly removed.

Wax strips

If you are self conscious about going to a salon to have the hair removed, or don't want to spend the money on an in-home waxing kit, you still have other options. You can purchase tape-like strips of wax that you rub between your hands to heat up. Place the strips on the unwanted hair and tear off. These don't work as effectively as hot waxing, hair.

Depilatory cream

Depilatory creams work very well to remove unwanted facial hair, and they are very inexpensive. The cream is simply placed on the unwanted facial hair and allowed to stay in place for several minutes. When it is wiped away, the hair comes off with it. Many women find the smell of these creams unpleasant, and some claim to have been burned from leaving the cream on too long. To prevent this, never leave the cream on for an extended period of time.

Tweezing

Tweezing the unwanted hair is VERY PAINFUL and can take a long time. However, it's the best option when dealing with eyebrows. Tweezers make precise removal of small strands of hair easy, and they allow you to shape and arch the eyebrows. TIP - Slanted tweezers work best in gripping the hair.

Personal trimmers

There are several razors that are advertised as "personal trimmers", which are really just small electric razors. It may be attempting to use them because they provide quick removal of unwanted facial hair, but there is also a downside to using them. Hair grows back quickly, and usually comes back darker than before. If you wouldn't shave your face with a regular razor, you certainly don't want to use a personal trimmer to do it.
