Mobile home floor repair is quite an easy job to do if you follow a few simple steps. In fact, mobile home floor repair can be done by anyone who has some basic carpentry skills. The biggest threat to the floor of your mobile home is water but even if your mobile home doesn't flood you still need to carry out some mobile home floor repair from time to time.

As mobile home floor repair task can be a bit laborious, many people hire a skilled tradesman to carry it out. While a hired tradesman will have the expertise and experience to complete your mobile home floor repair quickly and professionally, doing it yourself will ultimately give you more satisfaction as the extra time spent will be more than made up for by the money you save.

In order to carry out your mobile home floor repair you will need some basic tools such as hammers, chisels, screwdrivers and saws. It's also a good idea to wear safety goggles while carrying out mobile home floor repair. While you might feel some extra weight on your eyes, it will protect them from any splinters of wood or iron that fly off.

There are two basic steps to mobile home floor repair - removing the old floor boards and putting in the new ones. If there's a floor covering or carpet on the floor, remove it before starting any mobile home floor repair. Then mark lines square with the floor joists before sawing through the old boards. For the floor along the wall, you will need to chip out the old boards.

When you have removed the old boards, clean the top of the joists thoroughly and make sure that they are flat. You are now ready to install your new floor. Start by placing the new boards between the floor beams, making sure that they have their edges supported by the floor joists. Screw them in and run through the ends at an angle so they go through the floor joists. Keep the thickness of the floor as close as you can to that of the old one.
