How to Replace a 2 Pin Halogen Bulb

Halogen bulbs are types of incandescent light bulbs that are designed for longer-lasting lives than traditional bulbs. As with any type of light bulb, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes with different types of connections as well. Replacing halogen bulbs consist of the same process as that of replacing traditional bulbs, and you can replace a 2 pin halogen bulb with relative ease.

Things You'll Need

Replacement 2 pin halogen bulb

Step 1

Turn off the power source to the halogen bulb, and ensure that the old bulb is cooled completely before attempting to replace it.

Step 2

Remove the covering to the light fixture and unscrew the old bulb from the light socket by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out from the fixture.

Step 3

Position the replacement 2 pin halogen bulb over the socket with the pins lined up to fit within the light socket.

Step 4

Push the bulb into the socket and turn it clockwise to secure the 2 pin halogen bulb into the light socket.

Step 5

Replace the covering to the bulb and turn on the power source to insure the replacement bulb works.

Tips

Grasp the halogen bulbs with a cloth if you wish to prevent them from slipping from your grasp.

Warnings

Beware of attempting to remove change the halogen bulb when the power source is turned on for you could possibly electrocute yourself.
